Dubai Police monitors and blocks 297 websites promoting drugs in the second quarter of 2026

Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Sector Affairs, Major General Hareb Mohammed Al Shamsi, chaired the meeting to evaluate the performance of the General Department of Narcotics Control for the second quarter of the year 2026, in the presence of Major General Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Mualla, Director of the General Department of Excellence and Leadership, Director of the General Department of Narcotics Control, Brigadier General Khaled bin Muwaiza, his deputy Brigadier General Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Director of the Control and Inspection Department, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Abdul Razzaq Abdul Rahim, and a number of officers.
The General Department of Narcotics Control succeeded in monitoring and blocking 297 websites promoting drugs in the second quarter of this year.
Major General Hareb Al Shamsi appreciated the great role played by non-commissioned officers and members of the General Administration for Combating Narcotics in maintaining security and safety in the country by reducing the spread of the drug scourge and arresting its dealers to achieve advanced indicators in drug cases.
Major General Hareb Al Shamsi stressed the keenness of Dubai Police to continue qualification and training, and to learn about the best international practices in the field of drug control, in accordance with the latest technologies, in order to enhance the fight against drug trade and promotion operations and arrest drug dealers.
He reviewed the statistics of the General Administration for Drug Control related to the number of cases, people and quantities seized in the second quarter of this year, and the contribution of the General Administration for Drug Control in arresting those accused of drug trafficking cases at the emirate and state levels and the quantity seized in their possession.
The meeting discussed the plans of the General Administration for Drug Control and the work mechanisms it has established to combat this scourge, and the activation of educational awareness programs, in addition to reviewing the results achieved, the decisions of the previous evaluation meeting, and performance indicators.
For his part, Brigadier Khalid bin Muwaiza explained that the Dubai Police General Command is sparing no effort in strengthening its cooperation with countries at the general level in combating drugs, and contributing to enhancing the security of societies, out of its belief that the drug issue is a cross-border issue that requires international cooperation to combat and eliminate it. Dubai Police was able to provide different countries with 125 important pieces of information in the second quarter of 2026, which led to the arrest of many accused around the world, while the General Department of Narcotics Control succeeded. It monitored and blocked 297 websites promoting drugs in the second quarter of this year.
The audience was also briefed on the statistics of the International Hemaya Center in the second quarter of 2026, as the center organized 95 awareness programs that benefited 467,878 individuals from all segments of society.
The number of beneficiaries of awareness programs on social media in the second quarter of this year reached 8 million, 723 thousand and 327 beneficiaries, as the awareness programs succeeded in adopting creativity and innovation and developing skills in the field of security awareness, enhancing communication with all segments of society on security issues, and consolidating the family role in dealing with developments and emergency situations.
It is noteworthy that these evaluation meetings are a follow-up to the implementation of an integrated methodology to evaluate the quarterly results of public administrations within a timetable that includes all public administrations in the presence of the Commander-in-Chief or his representative, which gives an opportunity and possibility to see the trends that determine the objectives of the departments, each according to their specialization, and the methods by which the results are evaluated compared to previous years, and contribute to introducing many development plans and determining the extent of the success of those plans based on those achieved objectives.
