"DB World" Opens the first storage facility to serve multiple customers in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH, July 29, 2017 (WAM) – Dubai Ports World Group (DP World) has begun operating the first multi-dealer warehouse for integrated third-party logistics services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expanding the warehousing and distribution capabilities available to companies serving the Kingdom’s growing consumer and industrial goods sectors.

The facility is located in the Al-Mashael neighborhood, located in the Al-Sulay area, south of Riyadh. It extends over an area of ​​15,250 square metres, and provides more than 17,000 pallet storage locations, in addition to scalable inventory storage, management and distribution services, provided by one integrated logistics services provider.

The opening of the facility comes, according to a statement issued today by DB World, at a time when the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues to accelerate the pace of investment in supply chain infrastructure within the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which enhances the growing demand for modern logistical services and advanced solutions for warehousing and distribution in the sectors of manufacturing, retail trade, e-commerce and industrial activities.

The facility provides customers with direct access to the main transport corridors linking parts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the wider Gulf region, and thanks to its work as a warehouse not subject to the customs deposit system, customs-cleared goods can be transported directly to the local market, which contributes to reducing delivery times and enhancing stock availability.

Mohammed Al-Sheikh, CEO, DB World, Saudi Arabia, said that supply chains today require greater flexibility, clearer visibility, and higher speed, and that this facility allows customers to benefit from scalable storage and distribution services, which helps them improve inventory management, raise the efficiency of order execution, and respond more effectively to changes in demand in the market.

He added: “By expanding the scope of our logistical presence in Riyadh, we will enhance our ability to serve customers throughout the Kingdom and contribute to supporting trade and economic growth throughout its territory.”

In turn, Raven Giuliani, CEO of Logistics Operations, DB World GCC, said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the fastest growing logistics markets in the region, and a major gateway to regional trade, pointing out that, with the increasing integration of supply chains in the Gulf region, customers are looking forward to partners capable of linking storage, transportation, ports, and distribution services within one integrated network.

He added that this facility enhances the scope of DB World’s regional logistics operations, and increases its ability to support the movement of goods between the UAE, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and global markets on a broader scale.

The warehouse was designed to support the growing sectors of consumer and industrial goods, automobiles, retail trade and technology in the Kingdom, as it provides warehousing and inventory management services, assembling import shipments and distribution. Storage areas can also be configured to provide temperature-controlled conditions in parallel with growing customer demand, giving more flexibility to customers with specialized needs in supply chains.

The Riyadh facility integrates with DB World’s existing logistics operations in Dammam, and represents a new prominent station on the path of developing an integrated national network of logistics services, linking ports, land transportation, warehousing and distribution throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It also comes as an extension of DB World’s ongoing investments in the Kingdom, which include the expansion of the Southern Container Terminal in Jeddah, in addition to the previously announced Jeddah Logistics Complex development project, valued at $250 million and extending over an area of 415,000 square metres, to be The largest integrated facility of its kind in the Kingdom.
