Inflation in Korea rose by 1.5% in November

SEOUL, 3rd December, 2017 (WAM) – Consumer prices in the Republic of Korea rose by less than 2% over the previous year for the third month in a row last November, according to statistics from the Korea Statistics Authority issued today, Tuesday.
The Korean news agency Yonhap quoted the agency as saying that consumer prices, a key measure of inflation, rose by 1.5% on an annual basis in November, after an increase of 1.3% on an annual basis last October.
September recorded an increase of 1.6% year-on-year, while consumer inflation in Korea has remained below 3% since April, falling below the target rate of 2% for the first time in September.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose 1.9% compared to a 1.8% year-on-year increase in October, the data showed.
