IATA: Demand for air travel rose 7.1% in October

Global air travel data for last October, issued by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), showed that total travel demand rose by 7.1 percent compared to October 2023, and total capacity, measured in available seat kilometers, rose by 6.1 percent on an annual basis.
International travel demand, measured by passenger revenue per kilometre, rose 9.5 percent compared to October 2023, and capacity increased 8.6 percent year-on-year, while domestic travel demand rose 3.5 percent compared to October 2023, and capacity increased 2 percent year-on-year. annual.
All regions recorded growth in international passenger markets in October 2024 compared to October 2023, and airlines in Asia Pacific recorded a 17.5 percent increase in demand year-on-year, with capacity rising by 17.2 percent.
European airlines recorded an 8.7 percent increase in demand on an annual basis and a 7.3 percent increase in capacity. Middle Eastern airlines also achieved a 2.2 percent increase in demand on an annual basis and a 2.5 percent increase in capacity, while airlines in North America: a 3.2 percent increase in demand year-on-year, with capacity growing by 2.9 percent, and airlines in Latin America: a 10.9 percent increase in demand year-on-year, and a rise in capacity of 11.6 percent.
