14.6% growth in Chinese services trade in 10 months

BEIJING, 6 DECEMBER/WAM/ Official data issued by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce yesterday revealed that the country’s services trade continued its rapid growth during the first ten months of this year, with total exports and imports reaching 6,125.58 billion yuan, achieving a growth of 14.6% on an annual basis. .
The ministry stated, in a report carried by the People’s Daily Online, that exports of services rose by 16.6%, reaching 2,544.91 billion yuan, while imports grew by 13.2%, recording 3,580.67 billion yuan.
Trade in knowledge-intensive services grew by 5.9% to reach 2,361.63 billion yuan, as exports in this sector rose by 5.7% to 1,341.73 billion yuan, driven by strong growth in personal culture and entertainment services by 38.7%, and communications, computing and information services by 8.6%.
Imports of knowledge-intensive services reached 1,019.9 billion yuan, an increase of 6.1%, with notable growth recorded in personal culture and entertainment services by 34.2%, and other commercial services by 11.5%.
The travel services sector topped the scene as the largest contributor to services trade, achieving exceptional growth of 41.2%, bringing its total trade volume to 167.94 billion yuan during the aforementioned period.
