Mohammed bin Rashid approves a new project to transform Dubai into a pedestrian-friendly city

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, said in a blog post on the “X” platform: “As part of our plans to develop the quality of life in Dubai, today we approved a new project to transform Dubai into a pedestrian-friendly city.. 3,300 km of new pedestrian paths will be developed… and 110 pedestrian bridges and tunnels will be built.”
His Highness explained: “The huge project – which aims to make walking a part of the lifestyle in Dubai and we called it “Dubai Walk” – includes the establishment of an integrated walking network that includes 112 km of paths on the waterfront, 124 km of green walking paths… and 150 km of paths. Rural and mountain pedestrian areas.
His Highness added: “In the coming years… the resident of Dubai will be able to move around by walking, or via bicycle paths, or via its extensive network of roads and bridges, or via the metro and its new lines, or via water taxi, or via flying taxi on specific air routes.”
His Highness concluded by saying: “We are redefining the concept of mobility… and redefining the concept of quality of life… and building a model for a city in which people live the best, happiest, most comfortable, healthy and balanced life, God willing.”
