المملكة: Completion of cases is a prerequisite for a lawyer to be transferred to the “non-practicing” table.

The Saudi Bar Authority confirmed that the new executive regulations for the legal system included precise controls and regulatory procedures aimed at organizing the transfer process of lawyers who wish to stop practicing the profession for a period of more than a year, while ensuring the completion of all cases and work related to them.
Article Nine of the regulations stated that a lawyer who intends to stop practicing is obligated to submit an official request to cancel his license or transfer him to the roster of non-practicing lawyers at least thirty days before the date of his expected cessation..
She indicated that in order to transfer a lawyer to the list of non-practicing lawyers, the period remaining until the expiration of the license must exceed one year from the date of submitting the application, and that the lawyer must not be subject to investigative procedures or a party to an ongoing disciplinary case.
The matter also requires submitting proof of the completion of all cases and work assigned to them or their settlement with the relevant parties.
If the lawyer is a partner or shareholder in a professional company, he is required to provide evidence of the measures taken by the company to transfer the business to the partners or licensed shareholders, with full compliance with the relevant regulations..
These controls come within the framework of the Saudi Bar Association’s keenness to regulate the profession and enhance commitment to professional standards, in a way that achieves confidence in the legal sector and protects the rights of relevant parties..
