For this reason… the Pentagon temporarily suspends Osprey flights on the 22nd.

The Pentagon announced the temporary suspension of flights of the V-22 Osprey aircraft after another aircraft of the same model nearly crashed recently.
The Pentagon said that a preliminary investigation into the accident revealed that the collapse of weak metals in a part inside one of the planes during its flight last November, causing an engine failure that nearly led to its crash near New Mexico.

Navy spokesman Commander Tim Hawkins said Vice Admiral Carl Chepe, head of the Naval Air Systems Command, recommended the temporary pause last week and that it went into effect Monday morning.
Both the Navy and Air Force will adhere to the voluntary operational pause, which is indefinite as they consider how to mitigate the safety issue.
The Marine Corps did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether its aircraft would also adhere to that temporary pause.

Osprey plane problems

This is the latest problem for the Osprey aircraft used by the military, as an in-depth investigation last month of the Osprey aircraft revealed that safety problems had increased within the past five years.
It has also been proven that some parts wear out faster than expected, and that the design of the aircraft itself directly contributes to many accidents.
Following this report, parliamentarians sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin asking him to re-ground the Osprey fleet until solutions could be developed to address the safety and design issues.
