4.9% growth in China’s foreign trade in 11 months

BEIJING, 10 DECEMBER/WAM/ Chinese foreign trade recorded a growth of 4.9 percent during the first 11 months of this year, reaching 39.79 trillion yuan (5.49 trillion US dollars).

China Central Channel reported, citing official data issued by the General Administration of Customs of China, that total exports rose during the period from January to last November by 6.7 percent, reaching 23.04 trillion yuan, while imports grew by 2.4 percent, recording 16.75 trillion yuan.

The data showed that mechanical and electrical products accounted for about 59.5 percent of the country’s total exports during the aforementioned period, with a value of 13.7 trillion yuan, a growth of 8.4 percent.

She indicated that container exports grew significantly by 108.7 percent, agricultural machinery by 23.1 percent, while exports of ships and motorcycles witnessed an increase of 65.3 percent and 24.8 percent, respectively.

In terms of imports, data revealed that imports of energy and metal products increased by 6.3 percent and 4.3 percent, respectively, while imports of mechanical and electrical products amounted to 6.35 trillion yuan, with an annual growth of 7.5 percent.
