المملكة: Vision 2030 is a fundamental pillar of protecting the environment and combating desertification
The CEO of the National Center of Meteorology, Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, confirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through Vision 2030 and the “Green Saudi Arabia” and “Green Middle East” initiatives, contributes a pivotal role in strengthening international efforts to protect the environment and combat desertification and drought.
This came during his speech today, Tuesday, at the opening session of the Resilience Day, within the activities of the sixteenth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. (COP16)held in the capital, Riyadh.

Dr. Ghulam explained that adopting sustainable policies and employing modern technologies contribute to developing innovative solutions to confront major environmental challenges, noting that “Resilience Day” represents an important platform for accelerating international efforts and raising ambitions to confront the issues of drought, water scarcity, and land degradation. He stressed the importance of strengthening international cooperation to protect biodiversity and achieve sustainable development goals.
The session witnessed the presence of the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Engineer Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli, and the leaders of the Ministry’s environmental system, in addition to an elite group of international speakers, experts and specialists. During which, the necessary ways to accelerate global efforts to confront desertification, environmental systems deterioration, drought and water scarcity were discussed, with a focus on practical experiences and innovations that contribute to enhancing environmental resilience..
