The National Bank discusses the government’s policy on technical education and vocational training

The Federal National Council, headed by Saqr Ghobash, will hold its fourth session of the second regular session of the eighteenth legislative term, on Wednesday, December 18, in Zayed Hall at the Council’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, during which it will discuss the topic of the government’s policy regarding technical education and vocational training.
According to the session’s agenda, three questions will be directed to the Minister of Education, Sarah bint Youssef Al Amiri, from: Saeed Rashid Al-Abdi, about the suffering of parents from their children not enrolling in schools due to the year of enrollment requirement, and from Muhammad Issa Al-Kashf, about Zayed Educational Complexes. And from Amna Ali Al-Adidi, about the equivalency of transfer certificates from the British curriculum to the government or American curriculum.
Saeed Rashid Al-Abdi’s question states the following: Many parents are still suffering from the decision of the Ministry of Education regarding updating the date for calculating the age of admission for students in public and private schools, and what it included in raising the age of admission for students (4 months), with the requirement that the child’s age not be less than Four years and his date of birth must not exceed August 31, even though the child’s birth may be days or weeks less than the Gregorian date specified by the Ministry, which closes the doors of admission to schools at a time when nurseries do not accept them due to… They have exceeded the specified age. What measures can the Ministry of Education take to reduce the suffering of parents who are unable to enroll their children in school, given the enrollment requirement?
Muhammad Issa Al-Kashf’s question states the following: In light of the wise leadership’s initiative to establish Zayed Educational Complexes, many citizens demanded such complexes in the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain, especially since more than 10 years have passed without witnessing the construction of a new government school in the Emirate, despite the need. In addition, what is the ministry’s plan to build the Zayed Educational Complex in the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain?
Amna Ali Al-Adidi’s question states the following: Parents of students who recently transferred their children from schools that follow the British curriculum to schools that follow the Ministry’s curriculum or the American curriculum faced a challenge represented by the lack of clarity in the mechanism for equating transfer certificates or announcing the schedule of equivalency of subjects or years, and the issuance of equivalency decisions. Differently for similar cases, what are the Ministry’s procedures to address this challenge and clarify the equivalency and transfer systems between different curricula and announce them to parents?
During its session, the Council will review the report of the Technology, Energy, Mineral Resources and Public Utilities Affairs Committee regarding the recommendations of the government’s policy regarding artificial intelligence.
. The session includes a question about the Ministry’s procedures for clarifying the equivalency and transfer systems between different curricula, and introducing parents to them.
