600 players from 33 countries participated in the Asian Chess Championship in Al Ain
Al Ain, December 14 / WAM / The rapid chess competition in the Asian Individual Chess Championship for men and women for the amateur category will start tomorrow at the Danat Al Ain Hotel, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
600 players from 33 countries will participate in the tournament, which continues until December 23, competing in 4 classic, rapid and blitz chess competitions for the international classification categories, sponsored by the Asian Confederation.
The participants flocked to the city of Al Ain in preparation for the start of the tournament, where a technical meeting will be held at 11 am tomorrow morning to conduct the draw and announce the tournament instructions to the heads of delegations and players.
The Classic Chess Championship will be held from December 16 to 22 and will conclude with an awards ceremony, while the Rapid Chess Championship will begin tomorrow and conclude on the same day, and the Blitz Chess Championship will be held on December 19 and conclude on the same day as well.
Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Shakhbout Al Nahyan, President of the Asian Chess Federation and President of Al Ain Chess and Mind Games Club, chairs the Supreme Organizing Committee, with Hisham Al-Taher as his deputy, and the membership of Counselor Yousef Al-Kuwaiti, Sheikha Al-Dhaheri, Abdullah Al-Kamali, representative of the sponsoring company, and Dr. Hisham Al-Jundi, general coordinator of the tournament. .
