Supplying Central Europe.. Ukraine claims an attack on a major Russian oil facility

Russian authorities announced on Saturday that firefighters were fighting a fire resulting from a drone attack in Oryol (west), after Kiev announced that it had bombed an oil facility in the region at night.
Kiev regularly carries out drone strikes on Russia, especially on military and energy sites, in response to Russian attacks that caused severe damage to the Ukrainian electricity generation network.
The Ukrainian General Staff said in a statement that Ukrainian forces attacked a major oil facility on Saturday morning in the Stalnoy Kon area in the Oryol region, about 165 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
She added, “This is one of the largest oil facilities on the outskirts of Oryol,” and it forms part of the “military-industrial complex” that provides the needs of the Russian army.

Oil infrastructure

A post by Andrei Klychkov, the governor of the Oryol region, said on Telegram that “oil infrastructure” was on fire in Stalnoye Kon after a “major drone attack.”
The governor said that the fire had been “contained” by the evening, and its area had been “reduced” thanks to the efforts of firefighters.
The governor confirmed that instructions were given to citizens to keep the windows closed and not to go out.

Air defences

The Russian news agency “Interfax” reported that the attack targeted a facility owned by “Transneft-Druzhba”, which operates the “Druzhba” oil pipeline, which is a main route for supplying most parts of Central Europe with Russian oil.
Footage said to be of the attack and published by Russian media showed columns of smoke rising from a fire during the night.
Klychkov said that the attack led to the activation of air defenses, which shot down 11 drones, and left no casualties.
