Still in Washington.. Vance delays his trip to Pakistan for talks with Iran
He is still the US Vice President Guy D. Vance, who will head the American delegation in the upcoming negotiations with Iranin Pakistan was in Washington on Tuesday afternoon to participate in meetings, according to what the White House announced.
An official said in a brief statement sent to Agence France-Presse shortly after 17:00 GMT. "Additional meetings will be held at the White House, which the Vice President will attend"
The official did not provide further details. According to the latest reports, Vance was expected to leave on Tuesday morning, while some statements were conflicting regarding the departure date.
America and Iran Negotiations
For its part, Pakistan, which acts as a mediator between the two warring parties, announced that the ceasefire would end at 23.50 GMT Tuesday.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei said that no final decision had been taken regarding participation in the talks.
He said that "The reason for this is not hesitation, but rather that we are facing contradictory messages, contradictory behaviors, and unacceptable actions from the American side".
