Naseer Shamma reveals a project to manufacture the first musical oud in Saudi Arabia
International musician Naseer Shamma revealed a project to manufacture the first musical oud in Saudi Arabia, indicating his interest in transmitting the art of the oud by establishing schools that produced specialized teachers for this instrument, in an artistic atmosphere full of inspiration.
The international musician amazed visitors to the 2024 Jeddah Book Fair with his talk about “ear memory,” a term that raised questions and astonishment in a symposium titled Music Stylistically, and moderated by Professor Badr Al-Hamoud.
The influence of the environment on music
Shamma delved into the impact of climate and environment on music, explaining that the music of coastal regions is radically different from that originating in the mountains, where geography, architecture, and economics leave their mark on musical identity and heritage.
Shamma added: “All senses have memory, and they need treatment if they become ill in order to remain able to taste and feel. As for music, it needs maturity similar to the cycle of life, as I complete works that took years to complete before I present them to the public. Any musical work that lives for two decades acquires the quality of immortality.” “.
The role of music in therapy
Shamma did not neglect to talk about the role of music in treatment, highlighting that it has been used as a therapeutic ritual for centuries, stressing that it contributes to accelerating wound healing by up to 30%, and today it has become an established science in which academic degrees are awarded.
As for children, Shamma stressed the importance of music in developing their intelligence and keeping them away from harmful electronic devices, noting that it has become part of early education in many societies.
