Etihad Airways launches flights to Nairobi

Yesterday, Etihad Airways launched its new service to the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, concluding its expansion for the current year.

Eric Dee, Chief Commercial and Revenue Officer at Etihad Airways, said that Nairobi flights enhance the carrier’s expanding network of destinations while responding to the strong demand for travel between the UAE and Kenya, as was evident in the inaugural flight, which was full of passengers.

He added that with the growth of tourism traffic in both Abu Dhabi and Kenya, and the ambitious goals set by the two countries for the future, the new line creates important opportunities for the two destinations, and strengthens relations between the two regions to support Abu Dhabi’s position as a global travel center that provides access to the famous tourist destination in Kenya.

The new service comes at a time when the number of visitors in Kenya is expected to reach 3 million by the end of 2024, with a goal of attracting 5 million visitors in the coming years.

Etihad plans to expand its network of destinations next year to 13 new destinations: Warsaw and Prague in June, El Alamein and Atlanta in July, Taipei in September, Medan, Phnom Penh and Krabi in October, and Tunisia, Chiang Mai, Hong Kong, Hanoi and Algeria in November.
