The PLUS project aims to nurture local capabilities to design and manufacture the latest advanced radar systems, supported by strong orders from existing and potential customers in high-potential markets across the world.
The signing of the joint project agreement, which includes shareholder agreements, was attended in Madrid by Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, and Jose Vicente de los Mozos, CEO of Indra, with the participation and presence of Margarita Robles Fernandez, Spanish Minister of Defense, and Her Excellency Maria Amparo. He added that the joint project between EDGE and Indra bridges important gaps in capabilities, highlights the power of innovation and technology transfer in improving operational excellence and global security, and also embodies the keenness to build meaningful partnerships that advance progress and foster stability in the most important regions.
For his part, Mark Mortra said that the partnership with the “Edge” group will provide next-generation radar systems, and will include advanced research infrastructure, laboratories and experimentation facilities that will be based in the UAE. This important step will enable “Indra” to expand the scope of its global presence and develop our relationship. Value with Edge.
The new company, called “Plus”, focuses on engineering, developing, manufacturing, integrating and maintaining current and future radar systems and their components, as well as marketing them in high-potential markets, which will open up numerous international business opportunities.
The agreement allows for the establishment of two companies, the first of which will be owned 50.01% by “Indra” Company and 49.99% by the “Edge” Group, and will focus on developing, designing, integrating, selling and maintaining the latest radars, and the second will be owned by 50.01% by the “Edge” Group and 49.99% by “Edge” Group. Indra will be responsible for manufacturing these radars in a new advanced factory located in Abu Dhabi.
The new joint project aims to increase the production capacity of radars and their sales, and provide the UAE with new radar capabilities by transferring knowledge and expertise, in addition to training and qualifying skilled local specialists.

The company is initially expected to employ specialized and highly experienced professionals from Indra, while hiring young Emirati employees and recent graduates, in addition to engineers, technical experts and commercial employees.
The project plans also include improving local research and development capabilities in a strategic manner to pave the way for the development of the next generation of radar technology by establishing advanced research infrastructure, enhanced laboratories and experimentation facilities, acquiring the latest technologies, cooperating with leading experts, and implementing specialized training programs for research teams.
Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of the “Edge” Group, said that “Plus” represents evidence of the strength of cooperation, as it brings together the expertise of “Edge” and “Indra” to design, develop and manufacture the next generation of radar systems and export them to the group’s most important customers.

He pointed out that this project embodies EDGE’s strategic vision aimed at expanding the UAE’s industrial capabilities within the advanced technology sector and establishing sovereign capabilities, which advances the wheel of self-sufficiency and innovation on a global scale.
For his part, Jose Vicente de los Mozos, CEO of Indra, said that the company plans with EDGE to establish a new advanced factory equipped with the latest technology in Abu Dhabi, in order to meet the expected huge demand for the most innovative radar systems in the coming years, adding that this project The new helps accelerate the transformation process within the defense sector towards enhancing a greater global presence, in line with our strategic plan to lead the future.
It is noteworthy that the new project, “Plus”, will enjoy preferential rights on any current and future orders obtained by “Indra” or “Edge” of radars based on the technology specified in the agreement.
