The Endowments intensify advocacy activities and confront extremism in 2024

The Egyptian Ministry of Endowments intensified its advocacy efforts during the year 2024 within the framework of its comprehensive strategy for human building and combating extremism in all its forms.   Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments, announced that the Ministry has adopted four main axes: confronting religious extremism, confronting non-religious extremism, building humanity, and creating civilization. This confirms an integrated vision for achieving intellectual and societal stability.

 

The preaching convoy plan included the ministry’s dispatch of 734 various convoys, including 48 joint convoys between the Ministry of Endowments, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and the Egyptian Fatwa House, to the “Egyptian Fatwa” areas. Rafah and Sheikh Zuweid in North Sinai.

125 convoys were also organized in cooperation between Endowments and Al-Azhar in 20 governorates, in addition to 460 weekly preaching convoys, 81 convoys for female preachers, and 20 convoys for border areas.

In the field of preaching and cultural weeks, the Ministry implemented 1,038 cultural weeks in major mosques. This contributed to strengthening communication between scholars and the public to spread tolerant Islamic values. The same period also witnessed the implementation of 6,704 reading councils and scientific symposia, which included 2,874 reading councils and 3,830 scientific symposiums, to consolidate the correct understanding of religious texts.

At the level of fatwa, the Ministry organized 3,130 fatwa councils and fatwa symposiums, of which 1,753 councils participated with university professors. Al-Azhar and the Fatwa Secretaries of the Fatwa House, in addition to 1,337 special councils With female preachers; This confirms the ministry’s keenness to expand the scope of fatwas to include all segments of society.

Within the framework of activating the “fixed platform” program, it was possible to provide 63,254 religious lessons in 1,320 mosques throughout the republic.

As for the lessons, The methodology reached 49,960 lessons, including 46,000 lessons for imams and 3,960 lessons for female preachers. This enhances the role of religious education in building a correct religious culture.

The Ministry also paid great attention to the emerging generations, as it implemented summer educational programs for children that included more than 25,000 mosques, in addition to 21,467 mosques for the educational program during the academic year. In a step aimed at building balanced religious awareness among children and youth.

Within the framework of strengthening media partnerships, the Ministry organized 100 joint seminars with the media, including 52 seminars. In cooperation with Al-Gomhouria newspaper, and 48 seminars in cooperation with the National Media Authority, which were broadcast on the Nile Cultural Channel.

As for advocacy initiatives, they received special attention, as the Ministry implemented 120,301 scientific seminars and a dhikr council on Thursdays weekly, in addition to 3,200 advocacy thoughts. During the month of Ramadan, 439 major monthly seminars were held that dealt with various topics of interest to society.

In the month of Ramadan 1445 AH, the Ministry implemented an expanded advocacy plan that included more than 30,000 lessons and thoughts after Tarawih and Fajr prayers every day, in addition to holding Tahajjud prayers in 10,460 mosques, and activating scholarly chairs at 232 weekly councils.

Cooperation with the Ministry of Health bore fruit. It organized 3,400 symposiums on reproductive health, aimed at raising health and religious awareness among the public.

It witnessed Advocacy achievements: Organizing a series of competitions aimed at enhancing religious awareness and general culture, which included the “Eloquent Speaker Competition” Which aimed to develop public speaking skills, and the “Ideal Mother Competition” In appreciation of the role of mothers in building society, the Ministry also organized the “Summer Reading” competition. And the “Free Reading” competition. To encourage young people, imams, preachers, and others to learn and read.

The competitions also included fruitful cooperation with the Ministries of Education and Technical Education. Which resulted in the organization of the “Awqaf and Education Competition 2024 AD”, in addition to the “Awqaf and Republic Competition 2024 daily”.

Within the framework of the partnership with the Holy Quran Radio, 10 distinct competitions were held, the most prominent of which are: “The Remembrances”. The sayings, the fifth pillar, mosques with a history, religion is good morals, and a path As-Salkin, the Qur’anic objectives, the Forty An-Nawawi, proverbs in the Qur’an and the Sunnah, from the eloquence of the Holy Qur’an, and from the eloquence of the Messenger (peace be upon him)» With a total of financial prizes amounting to 240 thousand pounds.
