The National Team for Environmental Protection in Civil Aviation concludes the 2024 agenda

Abu Dhabi, December 19 / WAM / The National Team for Environmental Protection in Civil Aviation in the Emirates concluded its periodic annual meetings for the year 2024, headed by Engineer Maryam Al Balushi, Senior Director of Environmental Affairs at the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and with the participation of team members from the relevant authorities.
The meeting was attended by representatives from national airlines, ADNOC, and the country’s airports.
The national team discussed the most important developments in the international arena, including preparations for the upcoming meetings of the Committee concerned with Environmental Protection in Civil Aviation of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the extent of the impact of a number of upcoming decisions on the future of the aviation sector, including companies and airports.

The specialists and leaders representing the country in the committee’s various work teams presented the most important outputs that will be presented at the meetings of next February in preparation for taking final decisions therein, in preparation for presenting them in the next General Assembly at the end of September 2024.
Engineer Maryam Al Balushi said that this meeting comes at a very important time, as the civil aviation sector is witnessing increasing environmental challenges that require a quick and effective response, stressing the commitment to developing sustainable solutions that contribute to preserving the environment and ensuring a safe and sustainable future for the aviation industry.
The team reviewed in general the agenda for the year 2025 and the most important meetings that must be attended and prepared for, including the important presence of energy companies in the largest event that the country will organize next February in Abu Dhabi, which is the “Global Market for Aviation Sustainability,” which will be held on the sidelines of the country’s hosting of the ICAO Global Symposium. The fourth one to support implementation in 2025, which is scheduled to witness an international presence exceeding 2,000 participants.
The meeting was held at the Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Center in Abu Dhabi. The Center’s hosting of this meeting marks the beginning of opening new horizons of cooperation with specialists in air navigation, in light of global developments and developments in climate change issues. It also reflects the importance of the role of air navigation in shaping the future and new directions in its programs. And its plans to transition to a sustainable future.
