المملكة: Air conditioners do not cause rheumatism

The rheumatology consultant at King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah, Dr. Muhammad Attia says that air conditioners do not cause rheumatism.
He explained that rheumatic diseases are immune diseases that attack the joints, causing them to swell, and if treated, they cause deformity. The winter season and cold climates increase the pain of those affected, and we advise them to keep warm.

This came during the 10th King Abdulaziz University Conference on Developments in Rheumatic Diseases, which is organized by the Saudi Scientific Society of Internal Medicine.

Categories and ages of infection

Attiya said: “All rheumatic diseases in general affect younger people more than the elderly, and affect women more than men, with some exceptions for some diseases.”
He continued: “These diseases are the result of a defect in the immune system, and we call on those infected to be careful to follow up, especially in the presence of symptoms that are not caused by an infection.”

Discussing developments and transferring experiences

Attia stated that the Tenth Rheumatology Updates Conference is being held to present the latest developments and developments in rheumatology and discuss them to spread awareness and knowledge.
It aims to cover several topics, including transferring experiences across generations, discussing the latest developments in the disease, and holding some workshops.

Participating parties

A number of non-profit organizations and companies specializing in rheumatology medicine and medications are participating in the rheumatology exhibition, which will be held over the course of three days, through which they will display the latest developments in biological and precision medicines for rheumatic diseases and a number of research in the same field.
The exhibition also included clinical research in the field of rheumatism and a number of scientific workshops.
