Abu Dhabi, December 20 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club will organize, tomorrow, Saturday, the Abu Al Abyad Sailing Race for 60-foot sailboats, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region.
The bearings will sail from the tops of Abu Al Abyad Island, for a distance of 25 nautical miles until the finish line in front of the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, with the participation of about 90 sailing bearings, where the winning bearing crews will be crowned in the first three places, and more than 4 million dirhams in prizes have been allocated to the winners. The race comes as part of the heritage races program this season organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club.

Khalifa Al Suwaidi, general supervisor of the race, confirmed that the arrangements for organizing the Abu Al Abyad Sailing Bearings Race, 60 feet category, went according to what was planned, with the cooperation of the participants in the registration processes, technical inspection of the bearings, and adherence to the regulations and laws of this category, and the accompanying amendments that contributed to the development of the competitions.
He said that the 60-foot category races always witness a large participation from the boats on all occasions, due to the owners’ keenness to enhance efforts to preserve the authentic Emirati maritime heritage and pass it on to generations. He pointed out that the Abu Al Abyad Race is considered one of the important events organized by the club, and this race is included in the Each season is part of the heritage racing programme, and enjoys a special place among owners, captains and sailors, and is watched by large crowds from the beach.
