The Livestock Festival crowns 25 winners of the competition "Best breeds"

Abu Dhabi, December 24 / WAM / The Organizing Committee of the Livestock Festival honored 25 winners in the Best Breeds competitions, which included highly specialized categories of the Najdi breed, most notably the best ten sheep – Elite Race, the best three sheep – Sharaya category, the best three sheep – Al Izbah Production, and the best stallion.

The results of the competition reflected the level of development achieved by livestock breeders in the country and their role in improving local breeds and raising their production efficiency, in line with the country’s trends in promoting sustainable animal production.

This honor came as a culmination of the wide participation of breeders, as the best breeds competitions are one of the pivotal stations of the festival, given their role in encouraging the acquisition of the highest-producing breeds that are most adapted to the local environment, in addition to highlighting the efforts made in the fields of care, nutrition and health prevention, which are basic elements on which the competitions evaluation committee relies in its approved evaluation system.

The breed competitions coincided with the organization of the livestock auction, which is one of the most important marketing tools to support breeders. It provides a direct platform for buying and selling distinct breeds, and has witnessed a remarkable demand from breeders, merchants, and those interested in the sector.

The auction contributed to enhancing the economic value of local animal production and linking the results of competitions to market movement, which supports the sustainability of animal projects and increases the competitiveness of the national product.

The festival is witnessing great momentum in its current session, with the launch of a wide series of specific competitions and specialized events that will continue until mid-February 2026, amid wide participation from livestock breeders from the emirates of the country.

The festival enjoys special support from the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, within the framework of the system it launched to enhance the competitiveness of the livestock sector and support its role in the national food security system.

Adel Al-Shabibi, head of the Livestock Festival team, confirmed that the auction constitutes a fundamental pillar within the festival system, as it translates breeders’ efforts in developing breeds into direct economic value, and provides a unique platform for marketing animal production, which motivates breeders to continue improving the quality of halal products and raising their productivity.

He added that the strong competition in breed competitions reflects positively on auctions, as the demand for winning breeds increases, which enhances the culture of quality and excellence and pushes breeders to adopt the best practices in breeding, nutrition and health care.

He pointed out that combining competitions and auctions achieves an important integration between the competitive and economic aspects, and creates a stimulating environment for investment in the livestock sector, stressing that this model contributes to building a strong local production system capable of meeting the needs of the market and enhancing the contribution of the national product to food security.

The Livestock Festival continues to play its role as a national platform supporting breeders and a major driver for developing local breeds and consolidating the concepts of sustainability in animal production, in line with the country’s vision of achieving sustainable food security.

The festival also aims to highlight the efforts of breeders and encourage them to enhance local production and raise the quality of national breeds, by applying the highest approved evaluation standards in quality, care and nutrition.

The total value of the financial prizes allocated for the festival amounts to 2.624 million dirhams, within the framework of appreciating distinguished people and promoting positive competition among participants.

The organizing committee was keen to provide a fair competitive environment that supports innovation and motivates breeders to raise the level of animal production in the country.
