Captain of the Beach team: Our ambition goes beyond regional and continental championships

Dubai, December 20, WAM / Walid Al-Mohammadi, captain of the UAE national beach soccer team, confirmed that the team’s ambitions go beyond competing for the 2025 Asian Cup title and qualifying for the World Cup in Seychelles, indicating that there are aspirations that go beyond all these goals to achieve greater achievements.
Thailand will host the 11th edition of the Asian Beach Soccer Cup with the participation of 16 teams, during the period from March 20 to 30, 2025, with the top three places qualifying for the World Cup in Seychelles, which will be held in May 2025.
The draw, which was held yesterday, Thursday, placed the UAE team in the third group alongside the teams of Iran, Afghanistan, and Indonesia.
Al-Mohammadi explained that the UAE national team, which achieved outstanding results in the last World Championship in Dubai in February 2024, and ranked seventh in the world and ranked second in the NEOM International Championship last month, seeks to achieve beyond regional competition.
He said: Most of the teams participating in the Asian Cup are strong and aspire to qualify for the World Cup, which will make all the matches difficult and exciting, noting that the best 4 teams in the tournament will qualify for the semi-finals, and compete for 3 seats to qualify for the World Cup, which highlights the intensity of the expected competition. .
He stressed that the team will play each match separately with the aim of winning and occupying the top spot in the group, to ensure qualification to the semi-finals and then think about the next step.
