"Muslim sages"Promoting human solidarity is a religious and moral duty

Abu Dhabi, December 20 / WAM / The Council of Muslim Elders, headed by His Eminence the Grand Imam, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, affirmed that human solidarity represents the essence of the values ​​that call for compassion, solidarity, and the unification of humanity without discrimination and exclusion, which is what our world needs today more than ever. He said in a statement issued today on the occasion of International Human Solidarity Day, which falls on December 20 of each year, that human solidarity is more than just an emergency response to crises. It expresses a comprehensive, long-term vision and a shared commitment between countries, societies and individuals to confront various global crises and challenges.

He stressed that Islam called for unity and solidarity as a basis for building a strong and compassionate society, as it made human solidarity a legal duty, stressing that celebrating this occasion is through strengthening international cooperation and human solidarity to confront the common challenges that threaten humanity, in a way that contributes to providing a unified response, based on Principles of justice and fairness.

He praised the efforts and initiatives that enhance the values ​​of human solidarity with urgent and pressing issues, especially those aimed at alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable and needy groups and victims of wars, conflicts, disputes and crises around the world.

He pointed out that the Document on Human Fraternity, which was signed by His Eminence the Grand Imam, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, and His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church, in Abu Dhabi in 2019, called on decision- and policy-makers from different parts of the world to consolidate existing justice. On mercy as the path that must be followed to achieve the dignified life in which every human being has the right to live, and that dialogue, understanding, and spreading the culture of tolerance, acceptance of others, and coexistence among people, It contributes to containing many social, political, economic and environmental problems that besiege a large part of humanity.

He stated in his statement that the Council of Muslim Elders, through its various initiatives and programs, is keen to consolidate and enhance the values ​​of tolerance, solidarity, interdependence, and human coexistence between cultures and religions, as they are basic and indispensable pillars for building societies based on justice and peace.
