A terrifying, tragic story.. A killer was imprisoned for 130 years in America

A US court sentenced an Indiana man to 130 years in prison after he was convicted of killing two teenage girls who disappeared during a winter hike in 2017.
This case cast a long shadow over the two teenagers’ hometown of the small city of Delphi.

Murders in America

A special judge sentenced Richard Allen, 52, during a hearing that began at 9 a.m. Allen was convicted on November 11 in the murder of Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty German, 14, known as Abby and Libby.
A jury found Allen guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of murder while committing or attempting to commit kidnapping.
Allen faced between 45 and 130 years in prison in the case of the murder of the Delphi teens, and was sentenced on two of the four murder charges.

Allen also lived in Delphi and when he was arrested in October 2022, more than five years after the two murders, he was working as a pharmacy technician just a few blocks from the district courthouse where he was later tried.

Confusing clues

His weeks-long trial came after it was repeatedly postponed, evidence was leaked, a team of public defenders withdrew and was sent back by the Indiana Supreme Court.
The case, which included puzzling evidence, attracted huge interest from true crime fans.
The bodies of the two teenagers were found in February 2017, with their throats cut, one day after they disappeared while taking a long walk during a day off from school.
