"Sharjah Cultural" Launches the ninth session of the Kairouan Arab Poetry Festival

Tunisia – Carthage, December 21 / WAM / The ninth session of the Kairouan Arabic Poetry Festival was launched in the Tunisian city of Carthage, organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture in cooperation with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in Tunisia, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The opening ceremony yesterday at the House of Wisdom in the city of Carthage was attended by His Excellency Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Owais, Head of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, Muhammad Ibrahim Al Qasir, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Department, Dr. Khaled Ksheer, Director General of the National Library, representing Her Excellency Amina Al-Sarrafi, Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs, and Hala Al-Wartani, Director of the House of Wisdom. Muhammad Al-Qasir said that the opening of the ninth session of the Kairouan Festival of Arabic Poetry represents an important aspect of the existing cooperation between the Department of Culture in Sharjah and the Ministry of Culture in Tunisia, pointing out that the arrival of the festival in its ninth session confirms the common cultural vision that enhances its presence through continuous events throughout the year. He wanted His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, by launching the Poetry Houses Project, wanted Arabic poetry to regain its presence in all parts of the Arab world, so he directed the establishment of houses of Arabic poetry in the Arab countries.
Al-Quseir explained that over the past years, the House of Poetry has written a series of initiatives, programs, and cultural events to celebrate poetry and its creators in Tunisia. The House has also become a creative space that embraces creators from all literary fields. It has even become a habitat for training children, adolescents, and youth in the fields of poetic writing.
For his part, Khaled Al-Kashir praised the support of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, for those who preserved Salsabil, expressing the feelings of a nation that loved poetry and loved its writers in all parts of the Arab countries. In Kairouan, the melodies of the verses were established with the sound of delicate meters, as the Arab nation insisted on preserving its primary means of expression, steadfast in the face of the finest. For her part, Jamila Al-Majri, Director of the House of Poetry in Kairouan, said that the continuation of a cultural project all these years is an embodiment of the sincerity of the administration and the depth of faith of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, the owner of this pioneering initiative that has opened wide areas for poets to express themselves and have meetings that enable them to learn about each other’s experiences and embrace and support new talents. .
Al-Majri explained that the house hosted more than 1,000 poets and is issuing a booklet containing the first attempts to bud the poetry club, teach performances, and print poetry collections through the Department of Culture.
