Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece, the World Classical Ballet, The Nutcracker at the Opera House

In continuation of the Ministry of Culture’s New Year’s celebrations, the Egyptian Opera House, headed by Dr. Lamia Zayed Icon, presents its Christmas performances, the international classical ballet “The Nutcracker” by the Cairo Opera Ballet, accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra, led by Maestro Nader Abbasi and directed by Armenia Kamel, in 7 morning and evening performances on The Grand Theater at 8 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays 26, 27, 28, December 29, 30, 2024, in addition to a concert at two in the afternoon on Friday the 27th and another at eleven thirty in the morning on Sunday, December 29.
The Nutcracker Ballet was written by the Russian Tchaikovsky and choreographed by Ivanov-Vayunin and Dr. Abdel Moneim Kamel, decorations Solodovnikov and Mohamed El-Gharbawy, lighting engineer Yasser Shaalan, and Mabing Mohamed. Abdul Razzaq, and showcases the ability of feelings of love to transform people’s destinies and influence events, relying on various dazzling artistic elements.
In addition to some visual tricks, his story revolves around the dreams of a young girl. The beautiful Clara on Christmas Eve, after receiving a Nutcracker doll from her family friend, the godfather and toy maker Druslemmer, as a New Year’s gift, and her admiration for the toy that was accidentally broken by her brother Fritz, she becomes sad and goes to sleep to see The game returns to its original state and then transforms into a handsome prince, and a group of dreamy stories revolve between Clara, her prince, and Christmas toys. Inspired by one of the stories of the French writer Alexandre Dumas Sr., who in turn adapted it from the novel The Nutcracker and the Mice King by Ernst Hoffmann, and it was shown for the first time in 1892 on the stage of the Imperial Opera House in St. Petersburg. It is considered one of the most important classic performances of the Cairo Opera Ballet, as it was presented for the first time on the Grand Theater in 1993. Since then, it has been shown annually in December to celebrate the New Year with the same designs of its artistic elements, such as decorations, clothes, costumes, and music, in order to preserve its character.
