United Kingdom.. Heathrow Airport cancels 100 flights due to strong winds
Parts of the UK are experiencing winds of up to 120 kilometers per hour, with disruptions continuing over the holiday period due to bad weather.
Heathrow Airport, the largest airport in London, confirmed the cancellation of about 100 flights on Sunday, and advised passengers to check with their airlines before traveling.
Weather warnings continue
The British Meteorological Service (Met Office) had previously reported that the level yellow weather warnings for winds, which came into effect at 7 am (0700 GMT), are expected to continue until 9 pm today, Sunday, according to the agency. British News (BA Media).
Warnings continue in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and in England the warnings include the North East, North West, South West and West Midlands.
In addition to Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Hampshire.
Airspace restrictions
A Heathrow Airport spokesperson said: “Due to strong winds and airspace restrictions, we have canceled a number of flights on Sunday.
He added: We realize how important travel is at this time of year, and we have additional colleagues at our stations to support travelers on their trips.
He continued: We encourage travelers to review airline companies to obtain the latest information about their flights.
The airport was keen to stress that the vast majority of flights are operating normally.
