The coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula Violent seismic activity, and at least 12 strong earthquakes were recorded in just an hour and a half.
Repeated earthquakes
The Kamchatka branch of the Federal Center for Geophysical Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported today, Friday, that the violent tremors began at 06:51 GMT, with the first of them measuring 5.5 degrees on Richter scale, followed by a major, violent earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 at the same time.
He added: "The aftershocks continued with relatively weaker tremors, as an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 was recorded at 07:52 GMT, and another with a magnitude of 5.3 at 08:03."noting that all of these tremors occurred in the Pacific Ocean, at a distance of approximately 150 to 180 kilometers from the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

In a related context, the regional administration reported The Russian Ministry of Emergencies said in a statement that another earthquake measuring 6.9 degrees was detected, and it was felt by residents of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, with a strength reaching four points.
The Ministry stated that the magnitude of the seismic event reached 6.9 degrees and according to automated data, the seismic event was felt in some areas of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky with a strength reaching four points.
The Ministry confirmed that no evacuation of residents was carried out from The affected areas, stressing that the situation is under control, while field teams continue to closely monitor the situation in light of the continuing aftershocks.
