المملكة: A little girl sneaks out of her house in the middle of the night to sleep on the doorstep of a kindergarten

Police in the German town of Onna said on Sunday that a four-year-old girl, eager to secure her place in a queue of people waiting to enter a local child care centre, snuck out of her home in the middle of the night to sleep on the doorstep of the kindergarten.
Despite the cold and wet weather conditions, and even without a blanket to protect her from the extreme cold, the little girl lay in front of the kindergarten waiting for it to open.

The longest nights of the year

A woman passing by noticed the baby at 5:30 a.m., long before dawn, on one of the longest and coldest nights of the year, and alerted police in the town just east of Dortmund, where police officials expressed their surprise.
Her parents were no less surprised when they were awakened by police officers who came to their door, taking the little girl with them.
