Pictures: Launching of the Linguistic Sustainability Initiative at King Faisal University

The activities of the “Arabic Language and Artificial Intelligence” Forum, organized by the College of Arts at King Faisal University, concluded in the presence of the University President, Dr. Adel bin Muhammad Abu Zanadh.
This came to celebrate the International Arabic Language Day, with the participation of an elite group of academics and specialized experts.

Linguistic Sustainability Initiative at King Faisal University

The activities included the university president’s inauguration of the Arabic Language Center, which comes as a contribution from the university to consolidating and strengthening the Arabic linguistic identity.
It also launched the (Linguistic Sustainability) initiative with the aim of developing cultural responsibility towards the Arabic language and working on its sustainability.

The Dean of the College of Arts, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Halibi, stressed that the university’s celebration of the Arabic linguistic identity on its International Day is an affirmation of its scientific, research and volunteer commitment to contributing to the development of its responsibility towards the Arabic language and working to ensure its sustainability in the educational and societal environment.

Recommendations of the Arabic Language and Artificial Intelligence Forum

The most prominent recommendations of the forum focused on the importance of intensifying studies on developing artificial intelligence tools that support the Arabic language, while preserving the Arab cultural heritage.
It also included including artificial intelligence techniques in Arabic language teaching curricula to meet the needs of the digital age, and working to develop specialized digital platforms to disseminate Arabic content, and for the general public to benefit from artificial intelligence techniques.

The recommendations also included seeking to organize specialized training programs for Arabic language academics and teachers on the use of artificial intelligence techniques in education.
This is in addition to enhancing cooperation with international institutions to exchange experiences and knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence and the development of the Arabic language.
In statements to Al-Youm, specialists confirmed that the Arabic language is an integral part of the cultural and civilizational identity of the Arab and Islamic world.

Celebrating the Arabic language

They explained that celebrating it is an opportunity to emphasize the status of the Arabic language, as a living language, capable of interacting with modern challenges and changes.
They stated that it is a bridge linking the ancient past and the promising future, and it has proven throughout the ages its ability to adapt and develop to keep pace with the developments of the times, especially in light of the technological revolution and the development of artificial intelligence.
This came during the celebration of International Arabic Language Day, under the slogan: ‘The Arabic language and artificial intelligence: promoting innovation while preserving cultural heritage.’
