Closing of the ninth edition of the Kairouan Arab Poetry Festival

Carthage, December 23 / WAM / The activities of the ninth session of the Kairouan Arabic Poetry Festival, organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture, in cooperation with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in Tunisia, concluded at the House of Wisdom yesterday evening. It continued over three days of creativity that highlighted the aesthetics and energies of the Arabic language. By poets, critics and writers from Tunisia, Algeria and Libya.
The closing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, Muhammad Ibrahim Al Qasir, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Department, the poet Jamila Al Majri, Director of the House of Poetry in Kairouan, and a large gathering of lovers of the word.
In his speech during the closing ceremony, Abdullah Al Owais expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs, stressing that the renewed cultural meeting indicates the importance of fraternal relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Tunisia, in light of the festival’s important position on the Tunisian and Arab literary scene. Which encourages more joint cultural actions.
He said that the House of Poetry in Kairouan enhances joint cultural projects between the UAE and Tunisia, and represents a very important step to move forward towards new cultural horizons that confirm the cultural partnership that has extended for years between Sharjah and Tunisia, including the Sharjah Narrative Forum and the Sharjah Cultural Honor Forum.
In a related context, the literary symposium accompanying the festival brought attendees back to the beginnings of Arabic poetry in a symposium that knocked on ancient doors entitled “The Beginnings of Arabic Poetry,” in which Dr. Al-Monsef Al-Wahaibi and Dr. Monsef bin Abdul-Jalil spoke. The symposium deepened the importance and richness of Arabic poetry, and this was evident through the researchers’ keenness to explore Its depths and opening its closures to discover the story of its beginnings.
For their part, a number of poets participating in the Kairouan Arab Poetry Festival confirmed that Arab poetry houses have become a paradise for Arab poets, thanks to their prominent cultural activity, pointing out that the poetry house in Kairouan has become the destination for poets in North Africa and not just in Tunisia.
The participants thanked Sharjah as a cultural incubator for Arab creators, pointing out that at a time when some intellectuals find it difficult to highlight their creativity, Sharjah comes to take their hands, support them, and provide them with everything they need.
