"Civil aviation" Adopts autopsy and aviation pathology protocol in air accident investigations

Dubai, December 27 / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Civil Aviation Authority, approved the “Autopsy and Aviation Pathology Protocol in Air Accident Investigations”, in a step aimed at strengthening the standards for investigating aviation accidents.
According to a statement issued today, the protocol constitutes a qualitative addition and imprint to the aviation sector in the country by enhancing national capabilities in air investigations and supporting cooperation between various concerned parties. It represents an important development in the investigation methodology by enabling investigators to seek the assistance of experts in forensic medicine and aviation diseases to analyze the case. The health of the flight crew is one aspect of the investigation, in addition to other aspects related to the condition of the aircraft, flight operations, and human factors, so that analyzes of these factors are integrated to draw the most accurate conclusions regarding the causes of accidents and the factors contributing to them.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri said that the adoption of this protocol, which was developed to provide more capabilities to establish a safer and more sustainable aviation environment, reflects commitment to the directives of the country’s wise leadership to work to enhance air safety and develop innovative tools to improve investigations into air accidents and prevent their recurrence. He expressed his pride in the advanced position that the UAE enjoys in the field of aviation security and safety, and its rapid and advanced ability to deal with air accidents.
For his part, His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, said that the protocol, with its policies and procedures that were developed in coordination and cooperation with the relevant authorities in the country, represents a qualitative leap in the field of air investigations, as it establishes a culture of multidisciplinary cooperation and enhances joint national efforts. To ensure the application of the best international standards in the aviation sector, and to identify the causes of air accidents and prevent their recurrence.
For her part, Captain Aisha Al Hameli, Assistant Director General of the Air Accident Investigation Sector, confirmed that this protocol is an important technical achievement that increases the efficiency of investigation operations by employing the latest forensic technologies in air accident investigations and seeking the assistance of experts and specialists in the country, which reflects the national vision to build… An advanced investigation sector that relies on scientific accuracy to determine the root causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence.
It is noteworthy that the protocol emphasizes the importance of cooperation between various competent authorities in the government and private sectors, which ensures a sustainable and safe future for aviation, and enhances the UAE’s position as a pioneering country in the field of aviation and air safety.
