ABU DHABI, 28 December / WAM / The poets participating in the Prince of Poets Program in its eleventh season confirmed that the Sheikh Zayed Festival in the Al Wathba area in Abu Dhabi constitutes an important and pioneering platform under which diverse cultures and civilizations from different parts of the world come together.

This came during their visit to the Sheikh Zayed Festival headquarters in the Al Wathba area, and they learned about its activities that present visitors with features of Emirati customs and traditions, through many pavilions and sections, and recreational and heritage activities.

The poets toured the festival’s heritage village and learned about its activities that enhance the presence of Emirati traditions and heritage through the activities it provides that highlight the civilization of the UAE and the nobility and authenticity of its heritage.

The tour included many live workshops, including traditional crafts such as pottery making, wickerwork, and leather crafts, in addition to popular Emirati foods, watching folk art paintings such as the art of “Al-Ayyala,” learning about the heritage of falconry in the Emirates, and taking pictures with falcons.

The poets said that the festival represents an important heritage and social initiative in which diverse cultures and civilizations come together, reflecting the spirit of familiarity, love and sublime human values. They expressed their admiration for the heritage village at the festival, especially their familiarity with popular performing arts, which they confirmed they enjoyed following.

The poets expressed interest in the traditional activities at the festival, such as grinding grain with stone mills, and handicrafts, and described their visit to the festival as an outlet for them and helped them entertain themselves in preparation for giving a good performance in the “Prince of Poets” episodes.

They also expressed their appreciation for the festival’s contribution to bringing together cultures and civilizations under one umbrella, linking modernity and heritage, and its contribution to enriching and strengthening Arab identity.
