Muscat, March 17 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, witnessed the opening of the exhibition “Masterpieces of Arts from the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization” that is held in the Omani National Museum, and will continue until May of this year to form a cultural platform that reflects the depth of historical ties and close cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman in the field of heritage preservation and the spread of Islamic culture.
The opening of the opening began with a speech by Jamal Al -Mousawi, Secretary -General of the Omani National Museum, in which he welcomed His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and attending at the opening of the exhibition “Masterpieces of Arts from the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization”, which comes with the aim of highlighting the aesthetic and evolution of Islamic art, which is the fruit of cooperation between the National Museum and the Sharjah Museums Authority in the United Arab Emirates.
Al -Musawi explained that the three sections that are included in the exhibition, namely: the Department of Calligraphy Arts, the Department of Science and Innovations, and the third section tagged with harmony and diversity, reviews a number of pieces that confirm the richness, diversity and civilized depth of Islamic arts throughout the ages, which is something that the National Museum works to highlight and introduce visitors to it, and that the organization of this exhibition comes in the context of the cultural diplomacy pursued by the National Museum.
Aisha Rashid Dimas, Director General of the Sharjah Museums Authority, also delivered a speech during which she expressed her happiness at the opening of the exhibition in a long cultural edifice, which embodies the close brotherly ties and deep historical relations that bring together the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman, in light of the support and care of the wise leadership of the two countries.
Demas pointed out that the visit of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah to the Sultanate of Oman formed an incentive for the organization of this exhibition in a translation of his vision in the use of culture and arts as a bridge that enhances the strong ties between the brothers, and devotes the values of cooperation and cultural exchange between our two countries, which are framed by historical, cultural and social ties that are crystallized for years extending in the depth of history in all fields.
The Director General of the Sharjah Museums Authority said: This exhibition is not limited to being a platform to display a group of rare Islamic art pieces, but rather a window that gives us the opportunity to meditate on the rich historical legacy that we share, and reflects the superiority and creativity that the Islamic civilization distinguished through the ages, and we are pleased to present through this exhibition an exceptional set of rare pieces, displayed for the first time outside the United Arab Emirates, to be a witness to The ancient legacy that brings our peoples together, and reflects deep historical ties.
Dimas concluded her speech by thanking and gratitude to the team of the Omani National Museum and all those in charge of organizing this distinguished cultural event, which provides the opportunity to explore and taste the immortal beauty of Islamic civilization.

His Highness was briefed on a number of pieces offered, which are of exceptional historical and cultural value, including a silver cup bearing the tunnel of the “Royal Signature” by the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II, and the model of a six -year -made dinner chair made by Nasser Muhammad bin Qalawun, along with the first Islamic dirhams in Baghdad after the Mongol occupation, and a cat is shown in the form of a cat dating back to the eleventh century or twelfth century The Gregorian, and a sectarian porchy forth dating back to the thirteenth century, where these holdings reflect the artistic diversity that characterized the Islamic civilization throughout the ages.
