Peru… saving two fishermen stranded at sea due to giant waves

The Peruvian Navy announced that it was able to rescue about 30 fishermen who were stranded at sea for two days, due to giant waves that hit the northern coast of the country, and many of them were struggling to return their boats to Acapulco Beach in the Tumbes area.

Jaime Yasela, mayor of the province of Contralmirante Villar, located in the Tumbes region northwest of the capital, Lima, 1,200 kilometers away, said that some fishermen could not wait any longer to be rescued at sea, which led to the acceleration of the rescue process.

A number of boats sank due to the waves, which also led to the closure of several ports in the region, according to the authorities in Peru.

Defense Minister Walter Astudillo followed the rescue operations from an army helicopter, which was flying over the affected area.
