المملكة: Mobile phone use is the leading cause of traffic accidents in Al Bahah

The General Traffic Department revealed the 3 most prominent causes of traffic accidents in 2023 in the Al-Baha region.
She explained that the driver’s use of a portable device in his hand while driving the vehicle is the main cause of traffic accidents in the Al-Baha region, followed by sudden deviations and priority violations.
The General Traffic Department called on vehicle drivers to adhere to traffic regulations and rules and road traffic safety in all regions of the Kingdom.

“Traffic”… Field plans and continuous follow-up to enhance traffic safety

Based on the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance public and traffic safety on its internal and external roads, and to keep pace with global technological acceleration and artificial intelligence technologies, the General Traffic Department has developed its field plans to confront the dangers of traffic accidents.
This is done by raising awareness about the investment of Gulf, Arab and international events and days, exhibitions, seminars and conferences, and controlling by strictly implementing traffic regulations and rules on those who violate them.

Reducing traffic accident deaths

Saudi traffic awareness and control efforts have contributed to reducing traffic accident deaths on Saudi roads by 50%.
This includes tracking and monitoring sites where accidents occur repeatedly, classifying them as “black spots,” identifying them in partnership with the relevant authorities, proposing control and engineering solutions for them, and activating other control solutions, such as automatic monitoring of dangerous sites, and an intense field security presence of foot and mobile security patrols.
Receiving incoming calls to the emergency number (911) for security and humanitarian services in the regions of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Riyadh, and Al-Sharqiyah, and (933) in the rest of the Kingdom’s regions over a 24-hour period, which resulted in achieving a response time to direct traffic accidents and humanitarian cases that does not exceed (10) minutes.
The General Traffic Department was at the heart of safety technology, and it raised the level of implementation of the Saudi traffic system on the roads and in the fields that do not calm down throughout the day, using advanced technologies to automate monitoring and automatically controlling traffic violations.

Field efforts

In addition to humanizing traffic awareness and traffic safety and reducing the incorrect behavior of male and female vehicle drivers, including citizens, residents and visitors, by participating in awareness exhibitions and scientific conferences concerned with traffic safety, internally and externally.
Disseminating awareness messages, highlighting field efforts, educating road users about the regulations and instructions, constantly reviewing and amending them, and increasing penalties for violators in order to preserve their safety and the safety of others.
Because the road is for everyone and accommodates everyone, the General Traffic Department has helped raise the level of vehicle driving skills, reduce traffic accident deaths, and raise traffic safety rates by applying educational and training skills in driving schools and updating curricula and teaching methods periodically.
It worked to open schools in all regions, cities and governorates of the Kingdom, where male and female trainees enjoy the highest levels of quality in education and skills under the supervision of skilled trainers and highly qualified specialists.
