المملكة: Thwarting 3 attempts to smuggle 220,000 prohibited pills into the Kingdom
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority at the King Fahd Causeway, Al Haditha and Duba Port ports thwarted 3 attempts to smuggle more than 220,000 prohibited pills, which were found hidden in vehicles brought to the Kingdom and a traveler’s clothing bag.
The authority explained that in the first attempt, King Fahd Causeway Customs was able to thwart an attempt to smuggle 120,370 Captagon pills in addition to 45,975 prohibited pills, which were found hidden inside the cavities of the four doors of one of the vehicles coming to the Kingdom through the port.
In the second attempt, Al Haditha Port Customs was able to thwart an attempt to smuggle 21,011 Captagon pills, which were found hidden inside a clothing bag for one of the travelers coming to the Kingdom through the port. In the third attempt, Duba Port Customs were able to thwart an attempt to smuggle 34,084 Captagon pills, which were found hidden inside the driver’s seat cavity. For one of the trucks coming to the Kingdom through the port.
Drug reporting
The authority reported that after the seizure operations were completed, coordination was made with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the two recipients of the seized items inside the Kingdom, as they were arrested as two individuals.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority confirmed that it is continuing to tighten customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports, and is on the lookout for attempts by smugglers, in order to achieve the most prominent pillars of its strategy of enhancing the security and protection of society by limiting attempts to smuggle such pests and other prohibited items.
The Authority called on everyone to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by contacting it on the number designated for security reports (1910) or via e-mail (@zatca.gov.sa1910) and the international number (009661910). Through these channels, the Authority receives reports. Related to smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the Unified Customs System, this will be done in complete confidentiality, with a financial reward being granted to the informant if the information in the report is correct.
