المملكة: Transitioning to the production of organic honey is a necessity… and there are 5 stages of sorting

The director of the extension unit at the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Eastern Province, Engineer Mufid Al-Zahir, advised beekeepers of the necessity of switching to organic honey production and knowing the flowering seasons, whether in summer or winter, in order to obtain large production quantities of quality honey.
He specified the method of sorting honey, which begins with the availability of scraping tools and wearing a special uniform, then the sorting begins after the season, whether summer or winter, and checking the frames if they are complete, adding: If they are sealed, the scraping process begins, and the frame sometimes holds 1 kilo of honey. Sometimes 3.5 kilograms. The hexagonal eyes must be closed from the honey. After scraping, we place the frame in the separator.

He continued: The sorter can be manual or electric – which is the best -, and that most beekeepers use electric sorters, and the number of frames can reach 24 frames.
He explained that after that, the frame is closed, then it is moved manually between 120 and 180 seconds, then the existing impurities and crusts are extracted, then the pure honey is poured into the mashkhal and the ripening.

Al-Zaher advised all beekeepers to know the pasture and flowering seasons, whether summer or winter. In the summer, mangrove trees bloom from the month of May, and if the hives are placed late, the beekeeper will not obtain sufficient honey production.
He pointed to winter flowering, like wild flowers in winter, which gives large amounts of honey production, and of high quality, calling on beekeepers to convert to organic honey production, and that this has several steps, including that the bee pasture site should not be sprinkled with materials, or that it should not be a farm. It has been converted to organic before, but if it is in a wild area, this is immediately an organic place.
