Sales outlets offer discounts of up to 50% on food and consumer goods

Sales outlets and cooperatives in the markets of Dubai and Sharjah recently offered discounts of between 20% and 50% on food goods, beverages, consumer products, personal care products, and detergents, on the occasion of the beginning of the new Gregorian year.
The most prominent offers included discounts on frozen meat and poultry products, fish, canned goods, dairy products and cheese, in addition to offers on edible oils, rice and pasta.
Consumers told Emirates Today that the new offers are a positive competitive aspect that supports increasing shopping opportunities, especially for families preparing for the start of returning to school.
In turn, specialists in the retail trade sector reported that these offers come to celebrate the beginning of the new year, and aim to meet the needs of consumers when they return from vacation, or resume the school season.
Discount offers
In detail, consumer Saeed Mansour said, “Introducing these discount offers during the recent period increases shopping opportunities at reasonable prices for consuming families who were unable to purchase all their supplies, during the end-of-last year offers at sales outlets.” Consumer Ibrahim Hamza added, “The recent discount offers express positive aspects of competitiveness in the retail markets, and give the opportunity for consuming families to purchase their needs, with the return from vacation and the resumption of the school season after the mid-year holiday.”
Consumer Iman Fawaz pointed out that “the discount campaigns offered in many sales outlets during the current period contribute to providing multiple shopping opportunities for families to purchase their necessary goods, especially since these offers include several food commodity products, such as meat, poultry, and fish, in addition to… The download campaigns keep pace with a period of consumer demand, with the resumption of the school season and the return from the end-of-year holidays.
Families’ needs
For his part, the CEO of Community Relations at Union Coop, Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, said, “The cooperative has launched expanded offers during the recent period through various discount campaigns, in a way that meets the needs of consuming families in obtaining many food products at low prices, whether during the season or Holidays or when preparing to resume the school season after the mid-year break.
He added, “The discount offers reached about 50% discounts, and included food products such as edible oils, rice, dairy products, and cheese, in addition to many consumer products and care and cleaning products.”
For his part, the Director of Marketing and Relations at Sharjah Cooperative, Faisal Khaled Al Nabouda, said, “Offering offers for discounts exceeding 50% on many goods during the current period keeps pace with the trends of many consumers to buy their supplies, whether those who are still spending their vacation or those who have completed their vacation.” Holidays and preparing to return to work and the school season.
He explained that “introducing successive discount offers in retail markets brings many benefits to consumers, by taking advantage of these offers and obtaining their supplies at low prices.”
Purchasing manager at one of the retail chains, Dilip Vishal, pointed out that “there has been a trend from many sales outlets during the recent period to offer discounts to celebrate the beginning of the new Gregorian year, and to benefit from the increase in consumer demand during the current period, to purchase supplies for returning to school or returning to work after… The end of the holiday season,” he pointed out, “most of the offers continue for the first 10 days of this month, and some of them include various discount campaigns.”
Increase market share
Retail trade affairs expert, Ibrahim Al-Bahr, considered that the discount offers currently offered come with the trends of sales outlets to increase their market shares of sales, especially since the current period is one of the seasons of high consumer demand, to keep pace with the period of preparation for the resumption of the school season and the return to work after the end-of-year holidays.
