Abdullah bin Zayed receives the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Transitional Government

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received today, in Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Asaad Al Shaibani, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Syrian Transitional Government.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed His Excellency Asaad Al Shaibani and the accompanying delegation, and during the meeting they discussed ways to strengthen the strong fraternal relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples in areas of common interest. They also discussed the overall developments in the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, and the current regional situations, in addition to a number Issues of common interest.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated the UAE’s firm position in supporting Syria’s independence and sovereignty over its entire territory.

His Highness also affirmed that the UAE stands by the brotherly Syrian people, and supports all regional and international efforts that lead to achieving their aspirations for security, peace, stability and a decent life.

His Highness pointed out the importance of providing all factors of security and stability to the brotherly Syrian people, for a future of prosperity, progress and development.

His Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, His Excellency Saeed Mubarak Al-Hajri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Commercial Affairs, and His Excellency Hassan Ahmed Al Shehhi, UAE Ambassador to the Syrian Arab Republic.

The Syrian delegation included His Excellency Murhaf Abu Qasra, Minister of Defence, His Excellency Omar Al-Shaqrouq, Minister of Electricity, His Excellency Ghiyath Diab, Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, and His Excellency Anas Khattab, Head of the General Intelligence Service.
