The Ruler of Sharjah honors the poets who won the Rhymes Award 2024

SHARJAH, 7 JANUARY / WAM / Today, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, honored the poets who won the Al-Qawafi Prize 2024, at the house of Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi.

This came during His Highness’s reception of participants and guests of the Sharjah Arab Poetry Festival in its twenty-first session, from various parts of the Arab world and some African countries, including writers, poets and media professionals, which began yesterday evening, Monday.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah gave a speech on this occasion, in which he saluted the male and female poets attending the festival, the award winners and others who are keen on writing poetry from young people and new generations of connoisseurs of the Arabic language with its beauty and creativity.

His Highness blessed them for winning, pointing out that the purpose is to honor those who write purposeful poetry that is far from personal purposes, because the idea is to savor literature and eloquence, and that honoring the poet is meant to motivate him to do something more beautiful and direct him to write and work harder.

His Highness praised the role of the media agencies and Sharjah TV in allocating programs to broadcast and disseminate news of poetry houses, poets and their activities, which contributes to transporting people to poetry houses in every country, which is an important part of the work required to revive poetry and get to know the poets of those countries closely.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah discussed the experience of poetry houses that were established under the guidance and follow-up of His Highness in various Arab cities, as they opened windows for poets. His Highness praised the experience of the people of the poetry house in the city of Kairouan in the Tunisian Republic, who left the city to a wider space in the desert, and it was a beautiful transition for those who followed and witnessed it. How the entire land of Tunisia is covered with poetry, as well as the House of Poetry in the city of Luxor in the Arab Republic of Egypt, which despite its geographical location far from the capital, its activities It is continuous and attracts a large audience.

His Highness said, “There are countries whose people are known to love poetry, and we seek to develop what is in them and create young people who are children of poets as well. We hope that poetry houses will continue and spread in the Arab world. The point is that we all meet there as poets, and we also meet in Sharjah.”

At the end of his speech, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah referred to the idea and objectives of the “Al-Qawafi” magazine, which bears the award’s name and is issued by the Sharjah Department of Culture, and its role in presenting poets, motivating them to write, publish, and honor them. It is a specialized magazine that works to introduce connoisseurs of poetry to what has past and what exists today. arena now, and also contribute to directing the writing experience of poets, which must contribute to giving the nation hope and reminding it of its immortal days in history, which is what His Highness seeks in his writings that It aims to record the luminous history and convergence in thought and love.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah honored the winning poets, each of whom recited his winning poem, and the topics the poets addressed varied between homesickness and the virtue of mothers, the concerns of the human soul, the poet’s questions about life and poetry, praise of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, faith, and others. At the end of the meeting, His Highness also kindly shook hands with the poets and the attendees, and received a number of special dedications from the poets from poetry collections and various books.

The honored poets in attendance expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, for His Highness’s patronage of speech writers and poets, and all writers and creators in various forms of creativity and arts, and for honoring and honoring them by choosing their poems to be in the record of the Distinguished Rhymes Award.
