"Tourism development" Ajman hosts an international golf tournament

Ajman, January 9 / WAM / The Ajman Tourism Development Department announced that it will host the “Ajman Etihad” Golf Championship, on the 24th and 25th of January, under the sponsorship of the Union Water and Electricity Company.

The tournament aims to embody the department’s efforts and endeavors to support the tourism sector in Ajman, by holding sporting events and activities that contribute to consolidating the emirate’s position as a leading sports tourism destination.

The hosting of the tournament was announced during a press conference held today at Al Zorah Golf Club, in the presence of His Excellency Mahmoud Khalil Al Hashemi, Director General of the Ajman Tourism Development Department, His Excellency Engineer Yousef Al Ali, CEO of the Union Water and Electricity Company, and George Saad, CEO of Al Zorah Real Estate Development Company.

Al Hashemi said that hosting the tournament came within the framework of the efforts of the Tourism Development Department aimed at motivating young people to participate in sporting events, in a way that enhances communication and interaction among all members of society, stressing the keenness to organize and host sporting events and activities that contribute to stimulating local and international tourism and highlighting the role of the department in This field enhances the presence of the Emirate of Ajman and its position as a distinguished destination for all types of tourism.

For his part, Engineer Youssef Al Ali stressed that Union Water and Electricity is keen to support activities and initiatives that benefit society and the country as a whole, in line with its commitment to encouraging community practices and performing the role assigned to it in promoting social responsibility.

120 prominent players from the Emirates and abroad will participate in this international tournament, competing to win the cup in a professional atmosphere that allows them to meet and get to know the most important local golf players and communicate with fans of this game.

In turn, Hamad Ghareeb, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the tournament hosted by Al Zorah Golf Club in Ajman, which is considered the eighth best golf course in the world and is distinguished by its green hills and design, explained that it will be held in the “Pro-Am” system, which gives “amateur” golfers in the Emirates the opportunity to play side by side. With the professionals.

He stressed that this event is an important step in the Tourism Development Department’s journey towards supporting tourism in the emirate and driving the growth of this sector by attracting local and international visitors and motivating them to explore Ajman’s cultural and archaeological landmarks, and enhancing its presence among local and international tourist destinations.
