A training workshop on media work for 12-year-old students at the French Georges Pompidou School

Emarat Al Youm newspaper presented a training workshop for 12th grade students at the French International School Georges Pompidou, as part of the newspaper’s community role to support students academically and provide them with benefits to help them make their university choices and learn about different jobs closely.
The workshop, presented by colleague Mina Ghali, witnessed interaction from the students, who were keen to listen to everything related to the profession of journalism and its vital role in informing the public of various news and information, as well as its role as a means of linking the responsible official authorities on the one hand, and society on the other hand.
The students asked various questions about the profession of journalism and everything related to it, starting with how to obtain news and information, all the way to the newspaper’s workflow until it enters the printing stage, through to the tasks that a journalist performs and the characteristics that he must possess.
On the other hand, the students gave a presentation about a trip organized by the school for them to the country of Iceland as a real outdoor laboratory, which came with the aim of exploring the geological and natural phenomena at the heart of the SVT programme, while increasing the students’ awareness of environmental, historical and cultural issues.
The students explained that the Iceland trip organized by the school aimed to continue the school’s commitment as a French institution bearing the E3D label in compliance with the policies of the United Arab Emirates, specifically the Net Zero Carbon Emissions Initiative 2050. The students explored different geological concepts during their trip and also made visits to museums that display the heritage of the Vikings. And local traditions, and they also achieved the lead in raising the Emirati flag for the first time on the volcano (Eyjafjallajökull), which is one of the tourist attractions in the state of Iceland.
