“Harafa” Festival.. Rock arts depicting the life of ancient man in Hail

The archaeological rock arts corner of the “Harfa” Festival, organized by the Emirate of Hail, attracted visitors and tourists from inside and outside the region, and those interested in ancient historical antiquities, which depict the daily life of man in the prehistoric period.
The festival is held in the historic Qashla Palace.

Traditional artistic symbols

The plastic artist Afaf Al-Assaf, who won first place in the plastic competition: “Our History…The Thamudic Inscriptions in the City of Jubbah,” which was organized by the Culture and Arts Association in Hail, explained that she has been interested in realistic, abstract, surreal, and rock art for 4 years.
She added: These arts are considered a heritage symbol that abounds in the facades of the rocky mountains, enriching the festival’s visitors through a group of qualitative images through its display of archaeological inscriptions through the rock arts in the Hail region.

She indicated that she participated inside and outside the Kingdom.

Pictures of rock engravings

The corner includes pictures of rock engravings from the site of Jabal Umm Sinman in the city of Jubbah, northwest of the city of Hail, 100 kilometers inside the Nafud Desert, which was registered as a World Heritage Site in UNESCO in 2015.
Including “camels”, which are prehistoric drawings, and pictures of “Ibex”, which were painted with the high professionalism enjoyed by an Arab painter.
In addition to the Thamudic inscriptions and human drawings, which are considered some of the most beautiful sculptures on the site of the city of Jubbah.
The corner also included an image of a man holding a bow and shooting an arrow, which was inspired by the site of the Rat and Al-Manjur mountains, which contain historical monuments from various eras.

Rock arts attract visitors and tourists at the Harfa Festival in Hail - SPA

It is located in the south of the city of Hail, about 320 kilometers away, and about 35 kilometers west of the village of Al-Shuwaymis in Al-Hadir Governorate.

My mountains and Al-Manjur are on the UNESCO list

The site of the Rabit and Al-Manjur mountains has been included in the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The mountains of Rat and Al-Manjur are decorated with artistic images, including drawings of human and animal figures, all of which were carved in life size to express the life of the Thamudic people from the economic, social and intellectual aspects, as well as some drawings and stone engravings of camels.
And drawings of geometric human and animal shapes, and beautifully carved human feet of men, children, and animals, in addition to some writings specific to this era, distinguished by precision of execution and beautiful frieze paintings.
