Latvian official: Culture contributes to enhancing understanding between peoples

Abu Dhabi, April 29/ WAM/ Paiba Murnis, Deputy Minister of State for Cultural Policy Affairs at the Ministry of Culture in the Republic of Latvia, stressed the importance of the role of culture in building peace and enhancing understanding between peoples, noting that joint cultural work contributes to extending bridges instead of building walls.

On the sidelines of the activities of the cultural summit Abu Dhabi, Mournis said that Latvia takes the chairmanship of the regional consultations of Eastern European countries within the framework of “Mondiacolt”, and the issue of culture and peace was one of the most prominent axes discussed during these consultations.

She explained that she reviewed during the session held within the activities of the summit “Ministerial Dialogue within the framework of the Mondiacolt initiative: the culture of humanity in the digital age”, ways to contribute to culture in promoting peace through cooperation and mutual understanding, in a way that enriches cultural events and contributes to building a more harmonious future among peoples.

She thanked the United Arab Emirates for organizing the cultural summit, praising the importance of the event that provided an opportunity to meet between policymakers, cultural and creative workers, stressing that such meetings enhance international cultural dialogue.

Morenis expressed her admiration for the cultural experience in the UAE, especially in Abu Dhabi, noting that she touched the great interest that the emirate attaches to culture and its pivotal role in building the national identity, expressing her happiness with good reception and hospitality.
