Jordan excludes Syrians from “prior approvals” to enter its territory under one condition

The Jordanian authorities announced, on Sunday, allowing Syrians residing in several countries to enter the Kingdom without the need for prior approvals.

An official source at the Jordanian Ministry of Interior told the official news agency (Petra) that it was decided to allow Syrians residing in European countries, the countries of the Americas, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, to enter the Kingdom’s territory without “prior approvals.”

The source added that this is “provided that they have valid residency permits for a period of no less than 4 months in the countries they are coming from.”

This comes at a time when Petra Agency quoted the head of the Jordanian Civil Aviation Authority, Haitham Misto, as saying that a technical committee had returned from the Syrian capital, “studying the results of its visit to Damascus International Airport, to make a decision regarding the resumption of flights to and from the airport.”

Last week, the Authority sent a technical committee to Damascus Airport to conduct a technical evaluation of it, to resume Jordanian flights to the Syrian capital.

On Tuesday, the Syrian Foreign Minister, Asaad Al-Shaibani, visited Jordan, and agreed during his talks with his counterpart Ayman Al-Safadi on cooperation between the two countries, especially with regard to border security and confronting drug smuggling and terrorism..
