state "Carnitine" Austria rejects the use of wind energy to protect nature

Vienna, January 12 / WAM / Residents of the Austrian state of Kärnten refused to build more wind turbines on Alpine pastures and mountains, in order to protect nature and preserve the beauty of the state’s natural landscapes.

The result of a popular referendum held by the Austrian state, adjacent to the Italian border, on Sunday evening, resulted in 51.6% of participants voting in favor of banning the construction of more wind turbines in the state, compared to 48.5% who agreed to expand the construction of wind turbines used in power generation.

Martin Gruber, the state’s deputy governor, pledged to take the concerns of state residents seriously.
