المملكة: 120 days…a deadline to link health authorities to the “Pharmaceutical Dictionary”

The Saudi Health Council announced the adoption of the “Pharmaceutical Dictionary System” for drug coding, obligating all health authorities in the Kingdom to link their systems to it within 120 days. In a step aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the health sector and unifying mechanisms for dealing with pharmaceutical data.
The Saudi Health Council stressed the importance of adopting this system to ensure the accuracy and acceleration of the process of exchanging drug information between various health institutions, including hospitals, health centers and pharmacies.
The “Pharmaceutical Dictionary” aims to unify the symbols of medications used throughout the Kingdom, which contributes to avoiding confusion and medical errors, and facilitates the process of dispensing medications and following up with patients more effectively.
It is also expected that this system will contribute to enhancing the security and safety of pharmaceutical information, facilitate the process of tracking medicines and prevent the circulation of counterfeit and adulterated ones.
The Federation of Saudi Chambers called on all health authorities to cooperate and coordinate with the Saudi Health Council to complete the process of linking to the “Pharmaceutical Dictionary” system on time, stressing the importance of this system in raising the level of health services in the Kingdom.
