Sharjah Arab Poetry Festival concludes its twenty-first session

Sharjah, January 13 / WAM / Yesterday evening, the Sharjah Arab Poetry Festival brought down the curtain on the activities of the 21st session, which was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and continued for 7 days with the broad participation of male and female poets, critics, and media professionals representing Arab countries and a number of… From African countries.

The closing ceremony was held at the Palace of Culture in Sharjah in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs at the Department, Mohammed Al Buraiki, Director of the House of Poetry, and a group of poets, intellectuals, academics, and lovers of the word.

In addition to the poetry readings, the festival witnessed a corner for the signing of poetry collections by a group of creative people. Arab readers were presented with 12 new names for winners of the third edition of the Golden Rhymes Award. The festival was also accompanied by an intellectual symposium entitled “Arab Poetry from Constancy to Transformation.”

The current session of the festival honored two poets with the Sharjah Prize for Arab Poetry in its 13th session, who contributed with their creative output to supplying the Arab library with many remarkable poetic works. They are: the poet Talal Al-Junaibi (UAE) and the poet Hussein Al-Abdullah (Syria).

It was noteworthy that African poets representing the countries of Senegal, Mali, Niger and Chad participated in a scene that indicates the openness of the festival to new poetic horizons that enhance Arab poetry forums in Africa.
